Beer DeLuxe Albury was formerly the location of Paddy’s Bar, a much loved local favourite on the NSW border. The venue now encompasses a main dining area as well as a refurbished Paddy’s and Cactus Bar, both extending off the main building. The renovated interior has transformed a traditional old Irish Pub into a more contemporary casual version but still retains the Beer DeLuxe “feel” to the space. The Bar was stripped back, extended and fitted with timber paneling and a stone bench top. Feature bar lighting located above the bar is built from steel mesh and tied in throughout the venue. Other features include industrial steel screens installed to segregate dining areas and new booth seating both at the entrance and rear of the pub. Whilst dining areas are separated the illusion of open plan dining is still maintained.

Paddy’s is now the extension of Beer DeLuxe as the beer garden. Cactus Bar is the old standalone shed bar to the right of Paddy’s. With the two bars beside each other, the design was based around the idea of function space for bands and community events. The Cactus Bar space is geared towards the younger crowd and renovated with a new concrete polished floor lounge area and outback sunset mural along the north wall. The same feature bar lighting that is seen in the main dining area has been integrated into the Cactus Bar. The original bench top is reclaimed but re-tiled along the interface. Overall the integration of Paddy’s and Cactus Bar to Beer Deluxe was key to achieving a new local spacious and modern Irish Pub.
