Surrey Hills is a charming double brick, semi-detached villa sitting on a stunning generous parcel of land in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. The owners were faced with the challenge of retaining some of the former Art Deco features of the original home; built in the 1930’s and the need to introduce a modern renovation to accommodate their young family. With a strong desire to achieve seamless transitions, Visual Builders ensured all lines flowed cleanly and maintained respect for the classical features that remained throughout the home. The large Hampton’s style kitchen presents a combination of rich timber benches alongside high-gloss dark counters, brilliantly accented by bold pops of copper throughout. The result is a warm yet minimalistic centre to this entertainer’s delight.
The many bathrooms were also transformed, including the expansive en-suite, now boasting the luxurious ambience normally found in plush boutique style accommodations. Victorian style fixtures and fittings add to the old-world charm, complimenting a sleek and modern foundation. Other improvements include large bifold doors and windows from the main living areas out to the huge entertaining deck, overlooking a low maintenance leafy backyard. Surrey Hills is now a tremendous family home, showcasing the successful integration of the Architectural Art Deco era, into today’s Contemporary design.
