Maidstone VIC

Maidstone is an addition to an existing 1960’s Brick Veneer house, designed to evolve with the owners growing family and to achieve a strong desire to fuse functionality with environmental sustainability. The original lounge room was retained but is unrecognisable having transformed into a large open plan living area, encompassing a new state of the art kitchen and contemporary dining and lounge-room areas. Intelligence and innovation were consistently combined with features including rain sensing skylights, hydronic in slab heating, double glazed steel framed windows, recycled bricks and an Oblica Alcor Slow combustion wood heater. Exposed aggregate concrete floors provide a stunning backdrop to the living areas, whilst the kitchen hosts a brilliant Nero Tempesta benchtop with high gloss emerald tiles and greenery adorning the walls.

Upstairs provides a residential sanctuary housing all bedrooms and bathrooms; designed around a large vide to compliment the open transition between living areas. The ensuite promotes luxury and decadence with a free-standing bath and a clever his and hers double sided vanity. Sleek wall and floor tiling assist in creating a cohesive look and aid in dramatically reducing cleaning time. The installation of floor to ceiling windows upstairs proved difficult but were necessary to inject natural light throughout the areas. The large windows provide a cool, calm and sophisticated element infusing the outside world with the warmth of this beautiful home. Maidstone boasts solid visual appeal with innovation, environmental sustainability and practicality. Situated on a block hosting large amounts of rock and boulders and with limited access to the rear of the property, Visual Builders overcame multiple challenges to deliver a stunning renovation that successfully surpassed all expectations of the homeowners.
