Winners are grinners. Official winners of the Small Commercial Project Category for the 2016 HIA CSR Victorian Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom Awards for the design and renovation of The Market Hotel (formerly The Star Bar) in South Melbourne.
Brett Walsh fully supported the vision Tony Lewis had inside his head for this pub and the main scope of the project was to create an atmosphere which resembled Melbourne’s outdoor night life. Over a three month period the old Star Bar was transformed into a modernised green room, encompassing the outdoor environment within the indoor atmosphere using a lot of recycled and reclaimed materials. Tony Lewis (Director Visual Builders) & Milton Tolikas (Director Reeb Group) accepted the award on the night. Brett Walsh (Director Visual Builders) was unable to attend but was definitely there in spirit.

Recently, Venue Magazine have given the Terminus Hotel a write up, dubbing it the “Green Machine”. Visual have even managed to receive a mention based around the strong relationship between the client; Sand Hill Road Group Pty Ltd and the architect; Techne Architects + interior Design. The long standing relationship between the 3 entities have produced over 13 individual projects proving the success of team work at challenging circumstances.
The Terminus Hotel was by far a complex build given the grand garden space with numerous steel columns jutting from the ground up, the wall to ceiling shingled bar and the overall transformation of the old bar with the new.

Visual Builders contributing to a good cause, the BeeKeeper Backpack Project. Beekeeper’s idea to recreate an old shirt into a tool for school – the backpack, has driven those to purchase for a good cause. For each backpack purchased a child is able to get an education.
So to all you busy bees at BeeKeeper keep up the good work. Always lovely to see a creative force behind a rich cause.
