Nestled in North Carlton’s leafy Rathdowne Street, The Great Northern Hotel boasts a prime location and features one of Melbourne’s largest decked beer gardens. The Great Northern’s owner engaged Visual Builders to help with the design and specifics required for this upgrade. Refurbishment works have included renovation of toilets, a new kitchen, new booths and tables in the beer garden, new acoustic fencing and stadium seating.

In May 2014 a new addition to the Great Northern’s transformation was the timber bar located at the front entrance. This timber was originally sourced from St. Kilda Pier and has been reused as an attractive bar top. It’s natural detailing has been resin filled, giving it almost a preserved appearance. The result has breathed new life in to the main bar.
