This new sports pavilion was designed to provide 270 degree optimal viewing of the sports fields as well as environmentally creating a west facing thermal massing to prevent the afternoon sun from penetrating the building. The site is extremely exposed and thus the use of the concrete honed blocks helps shelter the pavilion from any driving wind and rain. Natural earth tones were used throughout the design to create a feeling that the building is part of its environment and blends into the natural landscape. Internally the feature curved plywood wall acts as the anchor for the activities inside. Overall this building has an entirely natural and easy flowing feel to it and really blends well with the landscape.
